Visiting the ATL and looking for an amazing brunch spot? Well look no further. In this #travelnote, I'll tell you all about my experience at Gocha's Breakfast Bar.
I love Atlanta, with my entire heart. I visit the city at minimum once a year to spend time with family.
That said, this trip left some to be desired in terms of good food. There were so many new places that I tried, but the spins on traditional soul food were just not hitting like I needed them to. Now I know there is still amazing food out there, which is why I took a little trip outside of the busy-ness of the city to find this place. This isn't a sponsored post either, but the food was so good I have to put you on. You'll thank me later.
Gocha’s Breakfast Bar was definitely worth the 30 minute drive to Fayetteville for brunch. Being from LA, that drive is nothing - so I was happy to make the trip.
Because the restaurant is located in an outdoor shopping plaza, the parking was easy find. I pulled in and found a spot right up front. Now, it should be noted that I went on a Monday afternoon. However it’s a holiday week, and the restaurant was far from empty. So I think the timing played a role, but so did the convenience of the location.
I did look online to see if a reservation was required, and on its busiest days that seems to be the case. But on this day the site encouraged me to walk right on in. I was greeted warmly and given some instructions on how to view the menu, which is accessed via QR code on the table.
The menu looked amazing, but I was HUNGRY. So I opted for a heavier protein option in the Meat Lover’s Omelette, which came with grits and toast. Because I also wanted something a little sweet, I skipped the toast and opted to add a Buttermilk Pancake instead.
This meal was the best I had on this trip! The pancake was sweet, but light. And the omelette was cooked perfectly. The veggies had great flavor and you could tell they were fresh, and it was packed with bacon and sausage. The portion was well worth the cost, as I couldn’t even touch the grits at the restaurant. I took the grits and what was left of my omelette and finished it at home later.
The service was also great. I’ve heard a lot of things about Atlanta’s restaurant culture, and most of them weren’t good. But none of that could apply to this place, at least not during my visit. They were friendly, and moved quickly. But in a way that was both polite and attentive. The server asked me to give him a good review online, and I was happy to do so.
So overall, I really enjoyed my visit to Gocha’s, and the next time I am in town I will be making sure to fit this in to my schedule. I highly recommend that you give it a try, and take friends to enjoy it with you.
